Options Cookbook¶

A reference of recommended option type assignments across 23 industries. Use these tables as inspiration when designing your own default_options dictionaries.

How to read these tables¶

Each table shows a set of options for a specific domain, with a recommended type:

Mandatory – Always available to all tenants. Use for industry-standard options that every tenant needs.
Optional – Available to all tenants, but each tenant chooses whether to enable it. Use for common options that not every tenant needs.
Tenant-Specific Custom Option – A placeholder representing options that individual tenants create for their own needs. Your tenants will create these at runtime.

For example, if you’re building an HR system, the “Job Titles” table below suggests making “Manager” mandatory (every org needs it), “Innovation Officer” optional (some orgs want it), and letting tenants create their own custom titles.

These translate directly into default_options on your Option model:
